The statue that stands above the EDSA Shrine--Mary Queen of Peace (Our Lady of EDSA).
This statue has been witness to the many dark moments in Philippine history including the EDSA 2 and 3 revolutions. This shrine, dedicated to the one of the biggest yet peaceful uprising in history, was first conceptualized 2 days after the first and in my opinion, the only truly useful EDSA Revolution. Click here if you want to read more about its beginnings, and here to see other photos taken around the shrine.

hmmm.. for me, both EDSA 1 and 2 weren't revolutions. only the face of the president changed.
Thanks for stopping by... what a unique angle on that shot. I like the building in the background too.
Love the message behind your pic. Yeah...guess at our darkest hours, what helps us to pull through is our spirituality.
Hi there! Thanks for dropping by mine!...Your entry is dark indeed! Love the photos you had...Have a great weekend! Oh! let me share this quotation, " Life is like a box of chocolates, you'll never know what you gonna get "... Sounds familiar right? Its from Forest Gump Movie- So, enjoy life, take it easy and savor the time you been down..Keep moving 'cause life is precious...God Bless..c",)
Mine at Ph: Dark
@little light: Well, EDSA 3 moreso I guess... but I'd like to think EDSA 1 did play a significant role, it just didn't worked out the way we all wanted it to.
@brine Queen: Thanks! :)
@Fishman: That and the fact that this statue has been there at the area where a lot of rallies were staged hehe...
@WilStop: Thanks! God bless you too :)
That's an interesting shot. Very powerful.
Thought-provoking choice for this week’s ‘dark’ theme. Wonderful perspective in the photo itself. I participated twice today with 'moonrise' in So Cal at Sacred Ruminations and a 'dark critter collage' at Small Reflections.
Hugs and blessings,
I like how you used dark in 2 different ways. Nice job. Thanks for coming by.
Thanks for sharing the story of the shrine.
Quite a powerful photo! Well done.

Nice take Philos.
What wonderful photo, the statue and building against the darkened sky. Have a good weekend.
Faith is what all Filipinos have... it's just that, the EDSA's didn't work out the way it should be... seemed as though the government is not the only problem why the Philippines is experiencing all of these... but every Filipino is held responsible for this... too bad....
but we should still have hope, the Philippines will rise someday...
Very creative shot
